The International Leaders

One way to determine which car might be the best for you or your family is to take a look at which models are selling the best worldwide. Generally, sales numbers for vehicle types are high for a reason. They are known to be reliable in all areas, from safety and performance to price and reliability.

In this article, we are going to take a look at the international leaders as far as vehicle models. Any list is going to have some kind of criteria; we are looking mainly at sales for vehicle makes which are still in production today. Thus, some important names have been left off of this list, such as the Volkswagen Beetle. Although third on the list (and you might see the new models in homesteads from the burbs to Liberty Towers condo parking spaces) of best selling vehicles, VW stopped producing the Beetle in 2003. Therefore, the beloved bug is not on our list.

Toyota Corolla: The best selling car in the world. People love the Corolla's design and its price tag; you don't have to cash in your gold mutual funds in order to afford one! Best of all, they are known for holding their value better than most cars on the market.

Ford F Series: Still the best selling truck brand in the world, the F series has mainly stayed on top with sales because they have been around longer than any other truck brand. These trucks first went on the market way back in 1948; Henry Ford might turn over in his grave if he were to see his product blasting out new hip hop music on the wintry roads of Canada today!

Volkswagen Golf: Another popular family car, these models look right at home parked on any piece of Davisville real estate.

Fiat 124: You won't see many of these driving the streets of North America, but this model is very popular virtually everywhere else in the world.

Honda Civic: Another vehicle that holds its value well, and the Corolla's biggest competition.

Nissan Sentra (and associated names): The most popular compact on the market, although you won't find many them driven by many CEOs of executive search firms. Toronto and other cities with large numbers of small families still see sales of the Sentra in the thousands each year.

Volkswagen Passat: A step up from the Jetta. This VW is designed with families in mind and has had a recent introduction of a four door coupe model.

Chevrolet Impala: Another domestic makes the list! The Impala is a large size family sedan and holds the record as the best selling full size car in history, and the best selling car period in the United States in a single year.

Ford Fiesta

Chevrolet Mini-vans: To round out the list, Chevrolet is still top of the heap with its line of mini-vans, although the company only started production on this vehicle in the mid-80s.
